Leader in Veterinary Compounding
NexGen Pharmaceuticals is an industry leader in the veterinary
compounding marketplace. We're committed to producing the
highest quality compounds along with unparalleled customer
service.
We strive to have the most innovative product lines and to
consistently improve our process through the implementation
of the latest available technology.
Veterinary Compounding Pharmacy
Unlike other veterinary compounding pharmacies, NexGen focuses on drugs that are difficult to find or are no longer available due to manufacturer discontinuance or have yet to be offered commercially for veterinary applications, but which still serve a critical need for our customers.
NexGen also specializes in wildlife pharmaceuticals, including sedatives and their antagonists, offering many unique options to serve a wide array of zoo animal and wildlife immobilization and anesthesia requirements.
Our Veterinary Pharmacists
The role of the NexGen veterinary pharmacist is an extremely important one, not only as it relates to the industry of veterinary medicine, but to society at large. Our pharmacists are well aware that they do not simply dispense medications in a pharmacy practice, and that their industry and their performance impacts many sectors of society, from pet care to public health.
As such, NexGen veterinary pharmacists play a much more important role than that of the pharmacy technician.
NexGen's veterinary pharmacists are specially-trained professionals who dispense veterinary drugs, supplies and advice to owners of companion animals, performance animals, as well as non-domestic and exotic animals. In partnership with our veterinarians, they also advise regulatory bodies and are involved in the formulation of custom compounded veterinary drugs.
Thus, one can see how this proposition involves much more than a healthy background in pet medications. While dispensing prescriptions for companion animals is certainly important, the role of NexGen's veterinary pharmacists encompasses a great deal more.
The Veterinary Compounding Pharmacy
Consistent with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Extra-Label Drug Use regulations, veterinary compounding is the customized manipulation of an approved drug(s) by a veterinarian, or by a pharmacist upon the prescription of a veterinarian, to meet the needs of a particular patient.1
Within these parameters, NexGen pharmacists formulate (compound) drugs individually and in combination for optimal efficacy to address common and emerging issues in veterinary medicine.
These include commonly-known medicines, synthetic hormones, novel compounds and controlled substances. With their experience and knowledge of the challenges common to the veterinary medical field, our pharmacists are also very well-versed in dosage forms that increase medication adherence in animals.
Sometimes, an animal will require a medication that is not manufactured by veterinary drug companies, and the equivalent medication is unsuitable for veterinary use. This could include any class of medication offered for any delivery route. In other cases, drugs commonly available for one species cannot be given to another for any number of reasons.
Some veterinary compounding companies concentrate solely on the needs of small animals, generally pets (companion animals), and on a smaller scale. These often address the problem of some commercial pet medications being available in only one size or strength. Sometimes, animals have difficulty taking commonly-available medications via the oral route, in which case a compounding pharmacy can formulate medication that can be taken via injection or transdermally.
Other compounding pharmacies specialize in such areas as in creating sterile ophthalmic solutions for pet prescriptions.
In addition to filling the needs described above, NexGen compounding focuses on drugs that are difficult to find or are no longer available due to manufacturer discontinuance or have yet to be offered commercially for veterinary applications. Working with veterinarians and veterinary pharmacists, we obtain the necessary pharmaceutical-grade materials and use them to custom compound formulations based on a wide range of veterinary needs.
In addition to their regular duties of developing and prescribing compounds, NexGen's pharmacists are encouraged to develop strong working relationships with our veterinarians in order to better care for veterinary patients. Such relationships foster an ever-increasing knowledge base upon which pharmacists and veterinarians can draw, making both significantly more effective in their professional roles.
The NexGen Team
Consisting of our management, participating veterinarians and our pharmacists, the team NexGen works diligently to determine the needs of our market, and to develop the compounded formulations our customers need.
The result? We've found that our customers—veterinarians in the field, managers and animal owners of every stripe—both trust and appreciate our unique approach to formulating custom compounded pharmaceuticals, as well as our product quality and responsiveness to market demands.
Our customers know that they will receive nothing less than the highest quality products and an impeccable level of professionalism when they work with us.
At NexGen Pharmaceuticals, we're using our success and forward momentum as we continue to expand, innovate and position NexGen at the forefront of the pharmaceutical compounding industry.
